Small Unmanned Aerial Systems Team Leader (sUASTL)

Components

DESCRIPTION

The Team Leader::

  1. Provides leadership, command, and control to members of a sUAS team, including the sUAS Pilot and sUAS Data Technician (if attached).
  2. Acts as a sUAS Pilot when required.
  3. Ensures the safety of the crew and team
  4. Communicates safety, hazards, and concerns to the team and crew
  5. Tracks and logs flight activities.

TRAINING

Completion of the following:

  1. IS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS-100
  2. IS-200: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, ICS 200
  3. IS-700: National Incident Management System, An Introduction
  4. IS-800: National Response Framework, An Introduction
  5. AZ SAR Basic Course
  6. Appropriate course of training on the implementation of sUAS on emergency incidents (provide documentation).

EXPERIENCE

  • Possess a completed/certified ASARCA sUAS Position Task Book (PTB) for:
    • Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Team Leader and
    • Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Pilot.
  • Has performed as an sUAS Pilot.

PHYSICAL/MEDICAL FITNESS

Performs duties under moderate circumstances characterized by working consecutive 12 hours days under physical and emotional stress for sustained periods of time.

PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  1. Current FAA Remote Pilot Certificate issued in accordance with 14 CFR Part 107 - Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
  2. NIST-Based Proficiency
  3. Possess current 107.29 Daylight Waiver permitting sUAS operation at night.

Small Unmanned Aerial Systems Pilot (sUASP)

Components

Description

The Remote Pilot:

  1. Operates the UAS and associated systems in a safe and effective manner according to local, state, tribal, and Federal regulations.
  2. Is responsible for all aspects of the UAS flight and performs pre-flight checks and crew briefings.
  3. Ensures the safety of the crew and team
  4. Communicates safety, hazards, and concerns to the flight crew
  5. Tracks and logs flight activities.

TRAINING

Completion of the following:

  1. IS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS-100
  2. IS-200: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, ICS 200
  3. IS-700: National Incident Management System, An Introduction
  4. IS-800: National Response Framework, An Introduction
  5. AZ SAR Basic Course
  6. Appropriate course of training on the implementation of sUAS on emergency incidents (provide documentation).

EXPERIENCE

Components

Description

The Data Technician:

  1. Manages and ensures the safety of collected data from UAS sorties/missions.
  2. Processes raw data into GIS and other work products appropriate for the mission.
  3. Performs analysis of data and information to assist decision-makers.
  4. Coordinates with the Team Leader on analysis and distribution of data and information.
  5. Acts as a Visual Observer on sUAS flights when requested.
  6. Ensures the safety of the crew and team
  7. Communicates safety, hazards, and concerns to the team.
  8. Tracks and logs flight activities.

Training

Completion of the following:

  1. IS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS-100
  2. IS-700: National Incident Management System, An Introduction
  3. AZ SAR Basic Course
